Alpenhof Wildschönau – Tyrolean Hospitality Since 1958
Our Alpenhof has been welcoming guests for over 60 years. Anna and Franz Luchner built the house and ran the guesthouse until 1994. In May 1994, we took over the business from them.

A Brief Look Back
Today is October 9th, 1958.
It is a great day for anyone who can raise the ridge beam on their own house. The builders are Franz Luchner Sr. and his wife Ursula, and their son Franz Luchner with his wife Anna.
The house was planned in winter 1957 and excavation began immediately (with pick and shovel). After two months of the hardest work, approximately 400 m³ of ground had been excavated.
The following summer, the basement and ground floor were built up. The construction was left standing over winter, then work continued the next summer. The two did the masonry work themselves, as both Luchner Sr. and Jr. were foremen with their own masonry trade.
The carpentry work was carried out by master carpenter Sepp Klingler from Oberau.
Building material prices back then:
30 cm hollow bricks: 4.40 Schilling
25 cm hollow bricks: 3.50 Schilling
Standard bricks 25/12/6.5: 0.67 Schilling
Cement (50 kg): 25.00 Schilling
A bricklayer earned 9.00 S per hour, a labourer 7.50 S.
1 litre of milk cost 2.20 S, 1 kg of black bread 3.80 S.
Let us not forget to thank the Lord for his blessing and protection, that no accident ever occurred.
The house is intended as a guesthouse and we wish that many a visitor will enjoy a happy holiday here.
